New Artistes In Nigeria!!!!

Like, i've been hearing new music form new and upcoming artistes in Nigeria. Some of the music i heard, i'd rate as average tho but there's also a lot of good work in there.
     I'll start off with the presently projected artistes signed unto EME records(Banky W);
    SKALES!
This guy CAN spit bars! honestly! his work(the ones i have heard) were simply IT! especially ''Heading For A Grammy''. If he keeps getting good beats and producers to work with, i think he really could be much bigger than he is now. I heard he is cocky tho, But then, when you are this good, who cares if u are cocky or not as long as u give ur listeners good songs.

Next up is WizKidAyo.

Apparently, he schools at LeadCity Uni but well, he doesn't really go to school tho, so they say well i cant say much on that.
Recently on my twitter timeline, i saw loads of boys and even some girls tweeting about how hot the main girl in Wizkid's new video ''holla at your boy'' (youtube.com) is. So, curious me went to check out the video. Honestly, she pretty and got long hair(cos she's not fully of naij descent so....dur)  Every one's entitled to their opinion. :)
NOW! about the song: it was the average high school type song about swag and getting chicks but KUDOS for hyping it up well.
I went to check out the song titled ''TEASE ME'' and it was far from what i expected! He barely said anything sensible in the song. It was just as bad as D'banj's ''I DO THIS'' ------>refer to (youtube.com) except that the beat of ''tease me'' is better.
Maybe it's just me but hey! everyone got an opinion right?

ONTO OTHER ''NON-EME RECORDS'' ARTISTES...

ICE PRINCE ZAMANI

This dude went hard on that OLEKU song. The beat is so chilled. Although i must admit, i didn't really like the song when i first heard it but that's because i was expecting to hear something like a dance beat. He's one to watch.

MUNA

I don't kow how this ex-beauty queen found her way 2 d music industry.  I saw her ''about'' mention something about her being a rapper so i did some investigation.
People keep going on and on about how good she is. I heard her on ''Lagos Party'' remix and i thought, hmmnn....she's alrite. Not all the lines were TOPS but for a starter, ex-beauty queen, she wasn't bad at all.
Then i heard she did a song on a david guetta beat. Till date, i dunno if it was a david guetta collabo with her or if she just rapped to one of his beats to another song. (i haven't heard the song before tho) it's called ''I FEEL REAL'' you might want to check on youtube tho.
NB: she DOESN'T like Jason Derulo and disses him on twitter so if u like Jason Derulo, you won't like her and/or if you dislike artistes that shoot down other artistes, you WON'T like her either.

TIWA SAVAGE

I first heard this babe thru a link on my facebook. It was her rendition of Nigeria's anthem on independence day (Oct 1) It was a lovely acapella ;) i approve! It has been said that she WILL dominate the charts next year so....bigups u go gurl

OMAWUMI
. She's not very new. She came 2nd place in the west african idols held in 2008 or so.
She has really paved the way for herself by showing up at award ceremonies and performing.i think she has got the potentials of a real superstar so  I wish her luck.

TIMI
This guy actually won the west african idols maiden edition. He's voice is very soothing. Sort of reminds me of luther vandross. Check out his new single ''I LOVE YOU'' featuring Jesse Jags. My rating 4/5 only because i don't give 5/5. *wide grin*

WAJE

Waje is THE VOICE behind ''DO ME'' --p square. She's got two singles out now, ''KOLO'' and ''FOR A MINUTE'' i prefer for a minute tho. #justpersonalpreference . Kolo is a nice party jam tho.

MO' CHEDDA

I absolutely LOVE her stage name! Her voice has a certain swagger, although her ''if you want me'' video didn't do much justice to her. Not sayin it was a bad video, just could have been better but it was good enough for a first.although i thought d shampoo song with chuddy k wasnt what i xpected n her rap lyrics in d song didnt really suit me but all the same She is defintely not camera shy I'm expecting more from this babe :

Nigerian Women And Relationships/Money

Hello there, I have genuinely been meaning to blog for a while now but school is just so time taking and draining. I have been getting requests to blog again and in fact, about specific topics so i will start with this one. Be warned though, I will probably start ranting.
A guy told me to title the topic: ''Why Nigerian Girls Love The Money And Not The Man''. hmmn....this is an unfair topic isn't it? i mean.. who says Nigerian girls don't ever love the man?
Truthfully, money is an important factor in a relationship(heterosexual or homosexual) and I personally will not take the risk of dating a man who doesn't have money or who doesn't have the drive to be prosperous. I understand that some girls/women are all about dating men who have large purses but that may be because they just need money to go through school(aristo girls) or have an incurable addiction to money and rich things eh? i think this is the same as ''men just date for sex''.
As the men get the sex, the women get the money innit? i mean, in the case of a reasonable number of men(or Nigerian men), once they start spending money on a babe like that, they start expecting the sex in return.
Now, back to the topic...was straying a bit. To be honest, no woman wants to go out with a man who would be looking at the ground when the bill comes at a restaurant for example. It's simple really. It can even be explained in evolutionary terms; the fact that a man is financially secure is a cue that he will be able to care for a woman and he brood. P.S I'm not advocating women becoming housewives and chopping somebody's money(gold diggers), so if you are one guy like that who isn't a go-getter and you think that there's one woman somewhere who will come and put up with your lazy trifling ass, i tell you, wake up! And let me tell you, it's not only Nigerian women...every straight thinking woman in this 21st century will do the same.
There's also the case of women being the main money bringers into the home. I'm pro-this by the way. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a woman earning more, for me, as far as the guy isn't bringing nothing and being lazy. Also, EGO issues! I'm not one to be helping massage anybody's ego so if u have ego issues, better sort it out. I don't have or personally know any females(friends or acquaintances) who are up for ''ego-massaging'' ....maybe village girls though.
And as for the rich men; the fact that you have money and have asked a girl out doesn't mean she will say yes. Everyone has their own criteria and we cannot possibly be attracted to every single guy so if you think that the NO that the babe has said is just because she wants to play hard to get or that she's shy, better open your eyes. A no is a no, not a yes in disguise.
Example; this guy after what, 2days, comes to my house in his car and bottle of moet and his mouth ready to do sweet-talking and the like. When i said no, he said ''that's weird''!
I mean, can you imagine, what is weird there? do i have to want you because you've driven Toyota and brought moet? And you can imagine that this guy had been saying ''you know it when you look good, if someone tells me i look good and i'm a fine boy, i'm like yes yes i know'' very off-putting a person.
My point at the end of the day basically is that I don't believe any woman/girl will actually date a guy just for monetary purposes except she is a prostitute/aristo runs. Point also is that women/girls will generally only date men who are financially secure in respect to possibililty of having a family with the man.
Thanks for reading. If you have any 'qualms' (lol) about this, you can comment. And please subscribe and follow the blog. Thanks :)

ALL TIME GREATS

I have been meaning to blog for a while now but couldn't get myself to do it;lazy me.
I have been getting requests to blog on a topic like this for a while now and i've decided to take it up.
There are a number of singers/musicians; both local and international who are usually overlooked. This is a common phenomenon these days with many artistes going commercial and watering down the quality of the music they are putting out. Therefore, the ones who are really making music and not noise are ''buried''. *sad tales*
Anyway, that is a topic for another day.....If u ask any person who the greatest musician of all time that they know, u'd probably get Michael Jackson for an answer. I'm not going to say Michael(R.I.P) wasn't a great musician but he wasn't the only great  one. In some peoples' books, he wasn't the greatest. He was really just a brilliant entertainer who pushed himself a lot;even to death.
In my book of greats, there are very many names. Music is universal and a lot of people love it and are talented in that aspect but in my top ten are artistes whom when i listen to any/most of their works, my soul is touched, my spirit is healed and their lyrics move my mind to deep thought.

Men:  10. Joe Cocker

  9. Jay-Z (Shawn Carter)

8. David Ruffin
7.Luther Vandross
6. Steven Tyler(he's crazy but he's crazy 'bout music too)
5.Sam Cooke(very few singers can do justice to ''A change is gonna come'') R.I.P
4. James Brown(godfather of soul)
3. Stevie Wonder(he inspired me to play the piano)
2. Marvin Gaye(the only person i know that can make the American anthem sound like a love song)
1. Ne-yo(he is a phenomenon in music #period!)

I can't but include Michael Jackson, George Michael, Sir Elton John, Paul McCartney and locally, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Sir Shina Peters, Salewa Abeni (people who will always be relevant in music to music lovers)

Women: In no particular order.........
Whitney Houston(her voice is very crap now tho) *SMH*
Mariah Carey(18 number1's...and counting!)
Mary J Blige(one of the first singers i ever listened to)
Aretha Franklin
Tina Turner(this is whom Beyonce was majorly inspired by)
Christina Aguilera (her vocal range is outta this world!)
Alicia Keys(never fails to bring purely beautiful music)

Beyonce' Knowles-Carter(no words to describe how musically awesome she is)
Lauryn Hill(sadly, she's left 'commercial' music;now the likes of Lady Gaga are dominating and poisoning our ears)
I cannot but add Etta James, Gladys Knight, Dolly Parton.

You might agree or choose to disagree with my list... it may well be a partial list.
 xoxo :)

THE beauty and the beast:Nicki minaj

Minaj's album is not bad, and decidedly not boring, but it's a microcosm for Minaj's work as a whole. The first single, "Your Love," is a straight-ahead sweet love song. It samples Annie Lennox's "No More I Love You's" and doesn't get its hands any dirtier than name-checkingGhostface. The verses show her love for playing with sounds and voices, but wouldn't appeal to many who came looking for another "Monster" verse.

"Check It Out," the second single, has some clinically devastating Minaj raps, but it also features a cheesy Buggles sample and will.i.am. "Right Thru Me" is another lovestruck single with much more heart than attitude.

Then again, it’s probably misguided to expect an album called Pink Friday to be an altogether gritty, throat-stomping rap album.

With her self-conscious Barbie posturing on the album cover and across several songs, Minaj has shown an abiding fascination with the way women are plasticized, manipulated, and collected. The way Minaj controls the absolute tone and timbre of her voice is another iteration of this concern. Yet Barbie is also empowering, showing people that there’s a value and desirability to being girly.

As suggested above, Pink Friday often is a pretty girly album. For it to be composed only of the hyper-violent or the hyper-sexual would put it squarely in the provenance of male-dominated market pressures.
There’s an interesting moment on "Roman's Revenge," a track with Eminem. In a way, the song is as close to an archetypal Minaj song as it comes. It flies at you fast and unhinged. Its sparse beat provides an open lane for Minaj's splintered personalities to clatter down. During Eminem's verse he says, "it’s Shady and Nicki Minaj. / You might find the sight quite odd," but it doesn't seem odd at all. Minaj clearly draws inspiration from Eminem—the impossibly fast verbal motor, stop-start verbal flourishes, and a polyphonous, schismatic narrative style are all hallmarks of each rapper.

It’s not surprising, then, that Minaj frequently uses this aggressive style of rap when she’s sharing a track with the big-time rappers. It’s also not surprising that it’s featured on one of the Pink Fridaysongs that is explicitly about double personas. It’s as if Minaj tries to distance herself from the technique even as she uses it with relish.

Nicki Minaj finds herself poised on the cusp of a real breakthrough. The last generation of women rappers has started to fade away, and very few female MCs have taken over the reins. Nicki Minaj isn’t even limited to laying down a great verse; she can sing the hook to a song, too. With her polyphonous, multi-style approach to record making, she can literally do it all. Her very presence is destabilizing on the male-dominated rap landscape. Where the guys are all playing dress-up in suit and tie, Minaj’s Barbie style is reshaping the game right around them.
